F:So, Dan. I need to ask you a few questions.
D:Yeah
F:Where were you last night around 9:30pm
D:Well, erm, last night around 9:30 I was headed down towards the park
F:Was you with anyone?
D:I was about to meet my boy down the park
F:And who would this be?
D:Ryan
F:Ryan Jones?
D:Yeah
F:We have suspicion that there was some dodgey business going on at the park last night. Did you happen to be involved with that?
D:Nah, Ryan's not into that
F:See we think that he may have been involved with a drug deal that went on last night
D:Nah, Ryans not like that, he wouldn't do that kind of stuff
F:Listen, if you have any information we need to know, these drugs can be dangerous
D:Well I just want to let you know that it wasn't me or Ryan doing anything
F:We have a very reliable witness that says you and Ryan were walking down the pathway towards the play area, is this true?
D:Well, mate, thats not what happened last night
F:So what are your version of the events?
D: Well I was walking down to the park going to meet my boy Ryan and then we went down to coop, just a standard trip ya know, get a few cans, just sit at the back and chill, thats about it
F:Okay, okay, well it's getting late so we'll bring you in for some further questioning tomorrow
Evaluation
Positives
-We met the practical camera sections of the brief (use of the 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot and match on action).
-We used dialogue and editing to create a genre of a crime genre.
-Showed understanding of the task by explaining the different camera shots and techniques that were new to us within the task.
Negatives
-To fit the crime genre, we could have created pace in our video by using more quick, straight cuts between dialogue.
-We could have amplified the audio in certain parts as the dialogue was fairly hard to hear.
-We could have incorporated more action into our video to define the genre in a better and more exciting way.
Overall the brief was met but there are many improvements that can be made to the project. A better knowledge in the editing software (iMovie) would of helped us as we attempted to overlap the audio of the interview over the flashback so its like the characters are telling the series of events rather than the diegetic sound of the clip but iMovie would not allow us or we didn't know how to. The functions of iMovie has always been a factor that stops us creating projects with advanced editing as iMovie is hard to use and has no walk-through/ tutorial in the program.
Filming Schedule
Tuesday 30th September- Filming
Thursday 2nd October- Editing
You are to work in groups of between 2 and 4 people. use of school cameras is not essential for this task (technique over quality), therefore using our mobile phones maybe an option - if we can attach to a tripod in some way. In my video I used all three desired camera shots such as match on action, 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot to create my media piece.
